Innalillahi wainna ilayhi rojiun.
“We surely belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.”
It is with profound sadness that we bid farewell to Husin Abdul Rahman, a former sports journalist at The New Straits Times, Berita Harian and The Malay Mail, who passed away at the Alor Star Hospital early this morning due to diabetes. He was 66.
A product of the prestigious all-boys boarding school Sekolah Tunku Abdul Rahman (STAR) in Ipoh, Husin was among the privileged ones picked to further their studies in the United Kingdom in the 1970s but did not complete his mechanical engineering course in Nottingham.
Born in Alor Star on March 23, 1956, Husin joined the New Straits Times sports desk in January 1979 but was later transferred to the Berita Harian sports desk the same year.
Dukacita di maklumkan, bekas penulis veteran sukan @NST_Online Husin Rahman telah meninggal dunia pagi ini. An iconic sports writer since early 70s till early 2000 or more. Al Fatihah.

From 1984 to 1986, he was posted to Sri Manjung, Lumut as a staff correspondent before returning to the BH news desk in 1988. Thereon he was made a sub-editor at the BH foreign desk in 1988-1990 and then a sub-editor at the subs desk in 1990-1991.
Husin rejoined the NST sports desk in 1991 courtesy of the then sports editor, the late Tony Francis, where he acquired a reputation as a hard-hitting critic. He was later transferred to The Malay Mail in 1996.
May Allah SWT forgive him, raise his ranks and grant him Jannah. May Allah the Almighty make his grave a vast place, enlighten it and make it one of the gardens of Paradise.
He will be buried at the Tandop Muslim cemetery in Alor Star, after Dzuhur prayers today.
